It's so interesting that you posted this today, as earlier this morning, I was reading an article on the BBC news website with the headline "Back to books - Sweden's schools cutting back on digital learning." It is an interesting read with opinions from different age groups and experiences. My first teaching job was with a blackboard and chalk and handwritten worksheets! As with all things I think there are pros and cons and that the answer probably lies in moderation. I am interested in what you said about passivity, it made me think about how easy it can be to fall into the trap of sometimes doing the same thing and not realising how it can change the atmosphere and dynamics of the classroom. Food for thought as always!

Such an interesting read, thanks for signposting Helen. (Linking here for those interested: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly0vk77vdko) Absolutely, balance is critical here - and thinking about the 'why'. Why will the use of a screen or device enhance the learning/experience/accessibility in a lesson? Screens should not replace but be an addition. Let's not forget about all of the tools, approaches and pedagogy which have existed long before technology. I am glad this 'glimmer' has provided a moment for reflection.
